About Leash Loam
A problem-first guide to dog walking gear, run on published specs and honesty instead of a fake test lab.
Why this site exists
Leash Loam started with a dog that pulled. Every walk was a tug-of-war, and every “best no-pull harness” article read the same: a wall of products, a lot of confident claims, and no real way to tell which ones the writer had actually used. We wanted a dog-gear site that starts with the problem you typed— my dog pulls, backs out, reacts, or rides loose in the car — and takes you straight to the gear that solves it, with the trade-offs stated plainly.
Who writes it
Leash Loam is written by Stephen V., an enthusiast who’s genuinely into getting the walk right. He is nota certified trainer or a veterinarian, and nothing here is training or veterinary advice — for a reactive, aggressive, or medical issue, see a qualified professional. What he brings is a habit of reading the manufacturer’s spec sheet against the marketing claim, doing the fit math, and saying so when a product doesn’t hold up. No lab coat, no fake stars.
The honest part
Here’s the thing most gear sites won’t say: we haven’t hand-tested these products. We don’t own a test lab, we don’t crash-test harnesses, and we haven’t strapped a hundred of them onto real dogs. Plenty of sites claim they did. We’d rather tell you the truth and compete on work you can check: compiled published specs, manufacturer manuals, the relevant safety standards, and the arithmetic behind fit and value. That’s laid out in full on our methodology page.
What you can count on
- No fabricated reviews or ratings. There are no invented testimonials or star averages anywhere on this site.
- Live, dated prices. Every price comes from a daily Amazon check and expires rather than going stale.
- Buyer-first picks. When a cheaper option wins, that’s our pick. Commission never decides a recommendation — see our funding disclosure.
- Certified vs claimed, kept separate. For car harnesses especially, we draw the line between independently certified and brand-tested-only.
